The Supercomputing Facility for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (SCFBIO) and the NIIT offered a Certificate Programme in Bioinformatics & Computational Biology under the auspices of FITT, IIT Delhi.

The programme introduced basic concepts and tools in Bioinformatics highlighting some of the outstanding research problems and promises thereof. Although intense, due to the short-term nature of the course, the goal was not to impart expertise but acquaintance. The IT modules of the course were offered at NIIT and the Bioinformatics modules at the Supercomputing Facility. The course aimed to cover all the relevant IT technologies helpful in the search and analysis done in the field of Bioinformatics and Bio-related subjects together with conceptual foundations.

Spread over six months, the programme included 252 hours of intense training on IT, 108 hours on Fundamentals of Modern Biology, Bioinformatics & Computational Biology & 144 hours of on-site training at the Supercomputing Facility for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology in addition to assignments and project.

Announcement for the commencement of next batch for the Certificate Programme in Bioinformatics & Computational Biology will be made in due course.
