About US
Overview of SCFBio's activities & achievements
The Supercomputing Facility for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (SCFBio), IIT Delhi, was created in July 2002, with funding from the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science & Technology, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
Under the guidance of Principal Investigator:
Prof. B. Jayaram with the vision

(i) To establish a nodal facility for supercomputing, accessible to the Bioinformatics community

(ii)To develop novel scientific methods and new software for genome analysis, ab initio protein structure prediction and active site directed drug design

The facility is working on all major aspects of Bioinformatics viz. Genome Analysis, Protein Structure Prediction and Drug design.

Infrastructure
The facility has following resources

1. 24 node (768 cores) Linux Cluster with 96 GB RAM per node and one node is having 512 GB of RAM specially for Genomics Application. The entire set-up is housed inside a Liquid immersed Cooling based technology installed in 2018.
2. 328 core AMD cluster with solaris operating system over a Infiniband switch
3. 288 core AMD cluster on linux operating system over a infiniband switch
4. 104 Processor AMD cluster over a Gigabit switch
5. 8 (K20) GPU Cards based Cluster.
6. 200 Tera Bytes of Parallel File System based Storage
7. 2 X 40 KVA UPS
8. 30 Mbps dedicated internet connectivity on a optical fibre link.

The aggregate compute power of the facility is over 65 Tflops and the data storage capacity is over 200 Terabytes. Facility is continuously upgrading its resources to provide better services to the people who would like to access its resources

People
The facility has several PhD students and project students/software professionals working on various projects.
Free Supercomputing Access
SCFBio is providing free compute time on the Supercomputer to the scientific community across the nation
Collaborations
Facility has various collaborations with Government, Industrial & Foreign Agencies
Other Activities
Apart from research and development activities, facility is involved in conducting workshops, seminars and providing various short term and long term training in Bioinformatics and Computational biology to students from Universities all across India.
